From her 9th grade, Shilpa Shetty was a big fan of the most famous two Hindi film stars, such as Shahrukh Khan and Rani Mukerji. The teleserial was titled Sarfarosh: The Reality was telecast in 1999, where she was the character of a female pilot. She was the main character in two other serials: The Rapture and CID-Crime Investigating Cell.
After the success of Sarfarosh, Shilpa was noticed, and she was then offered a role in an upcoming film. The film was titled Devi, which featured Tabu, Ranjeet, and Rahul Bose. But, after having been in the film for just a couple of weeks, Shilpa complained of a mysterious illness that forced her off the production. Because she didn’t divulge this condition to her directors and producers, she was substituted by Rakhi Sawant, who was in the film.
While being treated in hospital, a different film was in production. A film that was based on the play by Abeed Bani. The film was entitled Kal Ho Naa Ho. The other actors were traveling to shoot this film, the actresses came into contact in an accident, and one of the actresses, Sussanne Khan, even passed away. She was struck by a car while walking along the road to the film shoot. The result was a spine fracture that required surgery. She was in the hospital for over nine months. 2006 was the first time she starred in the movie Sarfarosh 2. In the same year, Shilpa was selected for the main character’s role for the movie Lajja. She was a performer known as Sulochana who finds affection with Rahul Roy, who is the character in the role of Lakshman on the screen.
