Asif Ali Biography

Asif Ali is a young and talented cricketer who was born on October 1, 1991 in Faisalabad. He proved his batting prowess in many matches. As he is from Faisalabad, he proudly raised his city in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He also plays for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League. He was also selected for international matches due to his excellent performance. In 2018, he made his debut in international cricket. Asif Ali surprised the entire nation with his brilliant batting against New Zealand and Afghanistan in the ICC World Cup 2021.

Asif was born into a simple family with financial problems in Punjab, Pakistan. Like every other Pakistani child, he was interested in sports from an early age and played street cricket with his friends. Within a few years, he became an expert in cricket, practicing daily.

Asif was forced to leave the game due to financial problems. It was very difficult for him and his family to make a living. That is why Asif joined the part time job but never left the practice of the game.

Asif Ali found out about the success of his hard work when he was approached to be a part of Faisalabad domestic cricket team due to his amazing performance. He  proved his mettle by playing mysteriously during the match against Multan in 2012.

In 2019, his daughter, who was suffering from cancer, died after being ill for 18 months. This tragic death shocked Asif Ali and he could not stay on the farm for the next several months.

Career start

  • Asif showed his first amazing performance for Faisalabad in 2017-2018 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He was the team’s leading run scorer in the tournament with 369 runs in 6 matches.
  • Asif Ali has been included in the Punjab squad for the 2018 Pakistan Cup. He performed amazingly throughout the season and became the highest run scorer in the tournament.
  • Due to his outstanding performance at the domestic level, he was invited by the Pakistani team for international representation in the T20 series against the West Indies.
  • The following month, he made his ODI debut for Pakistan against Zimbabwe.
  • Asif also played the first season of the Global T20 Canada Tournament, representing the Edmonton Royals.

The height of career

  • Asif Ali also played in the 2019 Mzansi Super League tournament for the Cape Town Blitz. it was announced that he will be part of Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the 2019 World Cup.
  • The same year, Asif Ali played for the Sindh squad in the 2019 Pakistan Cup and for the Cape Town Blitz in the 2019 Mezzanine Super League tournament.
  • Later, he was part of the Northern squad for the 2019-2020 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and the Dhaka Platoon for the 2019-2020 Bangladesh Premier League.
  • In 2021, he played for Jamaica Taahirah in the Caribbean Premier League and for the Jaffna Stallions in the first edition of the Lanka Premier League.
